　「#6218. イラスト入りスコットランド史の本」 ([2026-05-06-1]) にてスコットランド史を再学習中である．スコッツ語の外面史においても欠かせない情報として，歴代スコットランド（女）王とその統治年代を一覧しよう．出展は Encyclopaedia Britannica である．
　Malcolm II 以前の王については年代を含め不確かなことも多く，伝統的な一覧に基づいていることに注意されたい．

■ #6218. イラスト入りスコットランド史の本 [scotland][history][scottish_history][review][toc][timeline]

　何度目かのスコットランド滞在中で，改めてスコットランドの歴史を振り返っておきたいと思っていた．アバディーンの書店にふらっと立ち寄り，スコットランド関連の棚に平積みされていたのが，こちらの本である．
　比較的新しいスコットランド史の本で，2019年に出版されたものの2024年版を，売り出し中の￡7.99で購入した．ポケットサイズ（とはいえ，イギリス流の「ポケットサイズ」なので，全352ページと重厚でポケットには入らない）で読みやすく，何よりも200以上のイラストが含まれているというのに惹かれた．本を開いてみると，予想以上にイラスト，地図，写真などの図版が豊富だ．現代のスコットランドの風景写真も多く含まれているので．絵はがきや写真集を買うよりも良いのではないかと思われるほどだ．
　原則として1節が見開き2ページと短く，すいすい読み進めることができた．時代的には中石器時代から2023年の政治状況までをカバーしている．本文のほかには，用語集，推薦図書，索引が付いている．年表が付されていないのが残念だが，節立てが細かいので目次がそのまま略年表となっていると理解することもできるだろう．以下，目次を掲載する．
