　英語史に関する視聴覚教材は多くない．MacNeil-Lehrer Productions と BBC の制作したテレビシリーズ The Story of English (1986) の VHS や，ITV のテレビシリーズ The Adventure of English (2003) の VHS/DVD や，The Teaching Company の The Great Courses シリーズの1つ The History of the English Language, 2nd Edition, Parts 1 to 3 (by Seth Lerer) の講義 DVD が公表されているが，それ以外にはあまり見あたらない．一般の歴史ものであれば視聴覚教材は数限りなくあるのだろうが，言語の歴史となると乏しいのが現状である．"The History of English in Ten Minutes" by The Open University はこの分野での一つの貢献といえるだろう．
　本ブログではなかなか動画資料を用意することはできないが，できるだけ図表などのヴィジュアル資料を提供しようと心がけている．紙の上で表現しにくいことを効果的に表現できるウェブ上のメリットを活かしたい．
