Radiation Decontamination

The Fukushima daiichi nuclear disaster that occurred due to the 2011 Tohoku earthquake resulted in the release of radioactive isotopes and we are currently trying to help out with the decontamination and recovery work of this disaster. We aim to find an efficient, safe and low-cost decontamination method through practical research, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries 2011 senary industry leading model training program.

Professor Inoue's original prune and nuts healthy melon bread recipe was published in the CALIFORNIA PRUNE Product Development Contest-Recipe Book.

Awards

  • Professor Hiroyoshi Inoue has won the Keio University School of Medicine Best Teacher Award.
  • On the 26th of February 2013 Professor Hiroyoshi Inoue was awarded the 'Chemistry Communication award 2012' by the Japanese Union of Chemical Science and Technology. The topic of achievement was in the practice of chemistry education about radiation.
  • The 2 papers that were presented by Keio University both won the award of excellence at the JST Promotion of Science and Education and Public Understanding of Science and Technology programs' National students presentation (10th and 11th of November 2012).
  • Professor Hiroyoshi Inoue won the 2010 Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japans' Scientific Technology Chancellor award.

The research team that Professor Inoue is a member of got chosen for the National Institute for Fusion Science's joint research program with the topic: The mechanisms and safety when working on tritium with a fusion reactor.
