These are pictures of Top 5 self-introduction speeches. They were selected
by their classmates. Congratulations!
The focus of this speech was on Body Language (Physical Message). What
do you think of their posture and eye contact?
These rankings are based on students' peer evaluation sheets,
and they are not necessarily
evaluated the same way by the instructor of
this class. Yet, presentations are not only for the
teacher but also for
your audience. And these rankings show how well these people
"communicated"
with their audience in their speeches. Congratulations!!! I hope many of you
will appear in these rankings.
SPEECH #2 "SHOW AND TELL" (May 30, 2008)
1. M. Tomita (Average Score = 23.2 out of 25.0)
2. Ando (22.6)
3. Nara (22.2)
4. T. Tanaka (21.3)
5. Mizuno (21.0)
When you look at your speech in the DVD, look at these people's
presentations too! You can learn a lot from good presentations.
1. M. Tomita (Average Score = 31.73 out of 35.00)
2. Tetsuo (29.78)
3. Sato (29.65)
4. Ando (29.26)
5. Oyama (28.68)
The class average was 26.94. Ms. Tomita did it again. Congratulations!
We have new names too (i.e., Tetsuo, Sato, and Oyama).
1. T. Tanaka (Average Score = 30.63 out of 35.00)
2. M. Tomita(30.58)
3. Tetsuo (30.04)
4. Ando (29.67)
5. Aoki (29.21)
The class average was 27.59. We have a new top speaker, Mr. T. Tanaka
(Sorry, Mr. Tanaka, we do not have any DVD this time...).. Yet,
as you can see, we have small differences among the scores. All these were
excellent presentations. Congratulations to all of you.
Also, the class as a whole did a very good job. Keep it up, everyone!!!
1. M. Tomita (Average Score = 44.26 out of 50.00)
2. Ando (43.08)
3. Oyama (42.84)
4. Sato (42.74)
5. Nara (42.00)
The class average was 37.49, with a rather large standard deviation of
4.28. As I said at the
end of the class, there were two kinds of presentations. Some are very
good, as they were based
on lots of preparation with the work sheet (pp. 49-50) and rehearsals.
Others were
obviously not well-parepared and/or not enough rehearsals. This is the
reason
why we have this rather big standard deviation. If your presentation belongs
to
the second type, prepare well with the checklist and rehearse with a watch,
physical and visual messages as many times as possible. Then, I am sure
that
yours will be as good as the good presentations. It is a matter of preparation
and rehearsals! I want all students to get lots of 4s and 5s in all evaluation
points.
1. M. Tomita (Average Score = 46.88 out of 50.00)
2. Ando (46.48)
3. Nara (44.12)
4. Oyama (44.07)
5. Misonou (43.58)
The class average was 40.48, a very high score. This means this class performed
very well, and I am very
happy about it. You should be pround of your class! This was the last presentation
in Study Skills. But, as
I said, you will have lots of chance to give presentations in the future.
Keep all the presentation
handouts and use them when you prepare for them. Well done!!!
