英語セミナー(上級)
サブタイトル: University Life in America
Students will learn about issues concerning university life in the United
States, many of which have been actively discussed in Japan. Topics include
admission policies, campus life, Grade Point Average (GPA), student evaluations,
and the "core" curriculum. Each student will choose one university
in the U.S. and conduct research. The results of the survey will be presented
in a term paper and two oral presentations (individual and group), planned
at different times of the semester. Reading/writing assignments are planned
to prepare students for their research projects. Opportunities for speaking
practice will frequently be given in class in the form of group discussions.
This course will be conducted only in English. Students should read and
use the information on the course homepage (http://web.hc.keio.ac.jp/~matsuoka/)
before each class. A strict attendance policy will be enforced; virtually
no consideration is given to absences caused by extracurricular activities. Textbook(References):(1)
