中英語期の職業名を帯びた姓 (by-name) について調べている．Fransson や Thuresson の一覧を眺めていると，同一の職業とおぼしきものに，様々な呼称があったことがよく分かってくる．とりわけ呼び方の種類の多いものを，ピックアップしてみた．確認された初出年代と当時の語形を一覧してみよう．
