For Tuesday, September 26, 2017:

1. Get the Japan Times (JT) on the morning of Saturday, September 23, 2017 at a newsstand of a train station near your house. Note that the JT is a morning paper and that you CANNOT buy it in the afternoon. If you should forget to get the JT, go to the JT and buy a copy of the news paper. See this map for info about where the JT is. Call their sales department before you go, though. Also, although it takes more time, you can get the copy of the Japan Time from a Asahi Shinbun Home Delivery Center near your house. They are often called "ASA.".
2. Use the JT and finish Handout, pp. 3-4 (Homework #1). Note that this handout was made BEFORE the newspaper was published. Therefore, you may NOT be able to find ALL the information. If so, write "The information is not available" or "N/A" in the handout.
3. Use the handouts about self-introduction and physical message (i.e., pp. 22-25) and repare well for your self-introduction! Do not forget to rehearse with a watch and body language as many times as possible, so that you can talk about yourself like Dr. Mcgonigal!

1. Reading HW: Read the following handouts and prepare for future lectures:
(1) HO, pp. 5-6, for a lecture about newspaper English to be given in this class.
(2) HO, pp. 9-11 for lectures about how to give long presentations to be given next week.

2. Those who will give self-introductions: Prepare well for your self-introduction through lots of rehearsals. Pay extra attention to your body language (HO, pp. 22-25).

For Tuesday, October 3, 2017:

1. Reading HW: Read the following handouts and prepare for future lectures:
(1) HO, pp. 5-6, for a lecture about newspaper English to be given in this class.
(2) HO, pp. 9-18b for a lecture about how to prepare for and give a long presentation.

For Tuesday, October 10, 2017:

1. Download two example PowerPoint slides for MOPs and review Step 2 of MOPs (HO, pp. 10-11):
(1) My simple slides on the top page of this homepage.
(2) Mayuko's slides for her MOP in Spring, 2017 in Žö‹ÆŽx‰‡ of keio.jp.
2. Read HOs, pp. 13-14, 22-35, and prepare for the last lecture on presentation skills in this class.
3. Look at the schedule section of our homepage and start thinking about your MOP.
