These rankings are based on students' evaluation sheets, and the presentations
are not necessarily
evaluated the same way by the instructor of
this class. Yet, presentations are not only for the
teacher but also for
your audience. And these rankings show how well these people
"communicated"
with their audience in their speeches. Congratulations!!! I hope many of you
will appear in these rankings.
SPEECH #2 "SHOW AND TELL" (May 22, 2015)
1. Tobari (Average Score = 22.41 out of 25.00)
2. Noma (22.22)
3. Yakata (21.63)
4. Kawakami (21.59)
5. Suzuki (21.50)
Want to be one of the top five speakers for the next speech (mid-term Speech
#3)?
Use the checklist for Speech #3 (pp. 38-39, other supplementary handouts,
and the
SS textbook) and rehearse with a watch and physical message a lot. Good
luck!
SPEECH #3 "BOOK/MOVIE REVIEW" (June 5, 2015)
1. Tobari (Average Score = 30.38 out of 35.00)
2. Noma (30.34)
3. Yakata (29.75)
4. Yamaguma (29.53)
5. Suzuki (29.47)
Ms. Tobari, Mr. Noma, Ms. Yakata, and Mr. Suzuki did it again!
They were selected to be among the top five speakers for Speech #3.
Congratulations! And we have one new comer in the ranking list; Mr. Yamaguma.
Welcome! Yet, notice that the differences in the scores are
very small (from 29.47-30.38), and this means all their presentations were
very good.
These speakers must have used the worksheet for Speech
#3 carefully and prepared the story message (or the content) of their speeches well.
When you look at your speech in the DVD, look at these people's presentations too!
You can learn a lot from good presentations. The class average was 27.56,
which is also a good score. Although Speech #3 is difficult to do due to
its
short time limit, Class 31 did a good job!
SPEECH #4 Introduction of Final Speech (June 12, 2015)
1. Yamaguma (Average Score = 28.3 out of 30.0)
2. Suzuki and Yakata (tied with 27.0)
4. Ijiri and Sugiyama (tied with 26.5)
We have two new comers to the ranking list; Mr. Ijiri and Mr. Sugiyama.
Welcome! Although the preparation time was very short
(only two days!), these top speakers managed time well and prepared good
posters.
Their physical and story messages were also good. Congratulations!
Although their names are not written here, there are a couple of students
who
were selected to be among the top 10 speakers for the first time. Good!
FYI: The class average was 24.3. Note that you can find
the schedule of the presentation section in the annoucement section.
Check it out and manage your time/schedule well, so that ALL of you
will succeed with the final presentations for this course. Good luck!
SPEECH #4 Final Speech Rehearsals (June 16 and 19, 2015)
The class average was 41.7, a very high score for the whole class,
and these top speakers did very well with their rehearsals.
Yamaguma and Yakata did it again, while Noma and Tobari came back to
the ranking list. And Saito is a new comer. Congratulations to all top
five
speakers!! Note that the class average was high, and, in fact, there were
many good rehearsals. With more thorough preparation (HO, pp. 44-45), careful
evaluation of your rehearsal (HO, pp. 49-50) and lots of rehearsals,
it is quite possible for any one to be among the top five speaker for
the final presentation this week.
SPEECH #4 Final Speech (June 23 and 26, 2015)
The class average was 41.95, a very high score for the whole class again!
Not only these top five speakers but also many students in
this class did a very good job. Congratulations to all of you!
You should be proud of yourself and your class. I believe
all of you are ready to give presentations in English Seminars
Although the presentation section of Study Skill is over,
as I said in class, you will give many presentations in the
future. Remember what you have learned in this class
and continue to give good presentations in the future.
