ANNOUNCEMENTS

Last Updated on 06/04/2007

For Friday, April 20, 2007:

1. Get the Japan Times (JT) on the morning of Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at a newsstand of a train station near your house. Note that the JT is a morning paper and that you cannot buy it in the afternoon. If you should forget to get the JT, go to the JT by the next class and buy a copy of the news paper. See here and this map for info about where the JT is. You should call their Sales department first before you go there.
2. Use the JT and finish Handout, pp. 3-4.
3. Read Handouts (pp. 5-6 and 9-10) and prepare for the next class.
4. Start thinking about the topic of your first presentation. Your presentation date comes a lot faster than you think!

For Friday, April 27, 2007:

1. Check to see if you have all class handouts (pp. 1-18 + 6b) and put them in a folder or a binder.
2. Read Handout (pp. 5-6) and finish the following homework:
(1) Homework in Section III on p. 6
(2) Homework #2 on pp. 7-8.
3. Read Steps 1 and 2 of the MOP (the first presentation) on pp. 9-11 and start preparing for your MOP little by little, according to the schedule in the Schedule section of our homepage.

For Monday, May 7, 2007:

1. Read the Presentation Technique Checklist (Handout, pp. 13-14, and all handouts that are related to this checklist, pp. 22-35) and review Study Skills presentation techniques for your first presentation (MOP).

Cancelation of Two Important Classes due to Measles (May 26, 2007):

As you know, all classes until June 1 will be canceled due to measles, and two of our important classes will also be canceled. This means we need to change our schedule.
We will postpone our schedule by two classes. See the Schedule section of our homepage and check the new deadlineS for your first and second presentations (MOPs and FOPs). Don't forget to change the content of your schedule book too!!!

Cancelation of Another Important Class due to Keio-Waseda Basebal Game (June 4, 2007):

With the third baseball game against Waseda on Monday, our class on June 4 will be canceled. This means three of our important classes are canceled and that we need to change not only the presentation schedules but also the content of the rest of classes. In fact, some of your classmates sent me emails about the problems with the new schedule.
We will discuss the schedule and the content of the rest of this semester on Friday, June 8. Please do not miss this class as it will be one of the most important classes for you. Let us talk about how we can adjust the content and the schedule of the rest of the semester. Here are my suggestions:

(1) We will decide the FOP schedule again on Friday;
(2) Since we do not have enough dates for longer FOPs, you will give shorter MOPs as your second presentations. And we will have more presentations in each class (i.e., not three but four presentations per day), so that we can finish all second presentations by the end of the semester.

Pease consider these two suggestions of mine by the next class on Friday. See you then.
