Welcome to...

The Final Version

STARS OF THE WEEK PICTURES!

They volunteered to introduce themselves in class on April 21, 2006.
What do you think of their body language? I think they look very good with
good posture and lots of eye contact.

PRESENTATION RANKINGS

These rankings are based on students' peer evaluation sheets, and they are not necessarily
evaluated the same way by the instructor of this class. Yet, presentations are not only for the
teacher but also for your audience. And these rankings show how well these people
"communicated" with their audience in their speeches. Congratulations!!! I hope many of you
will appear in these rankings.

SPEECH #2 "SHOW AND TELL" (June 5, 2006)

1. Ishikawa (Average Score = 23.2 out of 25.0)
2. Kouga (22.8)
3. Nakazato (22.3)
4. Kuroda (22.1)
5. Kuriyama (22.1)

When you look at your speech in the video, look at these people's
presentations too! You can learn a lot from good presentations.

SPEECH #3 "BOOK/MOVIE REVIEW" (June 12, 2006)

1. Kouga (Score = 32.17 out of 35.00)
2. Nakazato (31.90)
3. Ishikawa (31.80)
4. Kuriyama (31.67)
5. Matsuda (31.43)

We have a new winner of the DVD, Mr. Kouga. Congratulations! Yet, note
that the difference in the scores for the top five presentations is
very small (i.e., 0.74). The class average, on the other hand, was 29.02.
The video of Speech #3 will be available again at Building #3 from Friday.
Check not only your own presentation but also these good ones.
Overall, your physical message was very good, but many of you still
need to work A LOT on your story message. The next presentation is the
rehearsal of Speech #4 "Final Presentation" in which all three messages
(physical, story, and visual) will be important!

2. Nakazato (32.0)

3. Kuriyama (45.07)
4. Kakizawa (44.67)
5. Kuroda (44.60)

The class average for the final presentation was 42.87, and it is "B+." That is, the leve of
presentations in this class was very high! Congratulations to all of you. Mr. Kouga will receive
the DVD for this presentation. If you are interested in watching your own presentation,
ask him. Now that we are done with presentation skills, it is time to focus on
academic reading and paragraph writing skills! Good luck with the final exam.
