ANNOUNCEMENTS

Last Updated on 05/22/2006.

For Friday, April 21, 2006:

1. Get the Japan Times (JT) on the morning of Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at a newsstand of a train station near your house. Note that the JT is a morning paper and that you cannot buy it in the afternoon. If you should forget to get the JT, go to the JT by the next class and buy a copy of the news paper. See here and this map for info about where the JT is. You should call their Sales department first before you go there.
2. Use the JT and finish Handout, pp. 3-4.
3. Read Handout, pp. 5-6 and prepare for the next class.
4. Start thinking about the topic of your first presentation. Your presentation date comes a lot faster than you think!

For Monday, April 24, 2006:

1. Finish Homework #2 on pp. 7-8.
2. Read Step 2 of the MOP (the first presentation) on pp. 10-11.

For Friday, April 28, 2006:

1. Read the Presentation Technique Checklist (Handout, pp. 13-14, and all handouts that are related to this checklist, pp. 22-35) and review Study Skills presentation techniques for your first presentation (MOP).

About Monday, May 22, 2006:

I am terribly sorry about the cancelation of this class. I was so sick that I was not able to go to school on Monday.

I especially would like to apologize to Mr. Iizumi and Mr. Nishikawa, the two speakers for the MOPs scheduled for this class. You must have been 150% ready for your presentations... Yet, please use the extra preparation time you now have and rehearse with a watch more, so that you can give yet better presentations on Friday. Good luck with your MOPs! I will be looking forward to them.

As for the other students, do the following for the class on Friday:
(1) Prepare more for MOPs by Mr. Iizumi and Mr. Nishikawa.
(2) Think about the schedule for your second presentations (FOPs). We will discuss the schedule for the FOPs on Friday, as we will start the second presentations about two weeks later.
(3) Look at the example PowerPoint slides for MOPs here. Save the slides to your computer and look at them. They should give you some idea about how to make good slides. Your slides must be better than these, though.

Monday, May 29, 2006:

1. This class has been canceled due to the baseball game between Keio and Waseda. If possible, go to the Jingu Stadium and cheer for our team!
2. This means we need to change our schedule one more time. Although we have just decided on the presentation schedule for FOPs, it needs to be changed. Look at the Schedule section of our homepage.

See you all on Friday!
