ANNOUCEMENTS
- For the Class on 04/18/2003:
- I have just received a new class list, which has 23 students!!! OK, you are going to give only two presentations. Happy? This means many of the students did not come to the Monday class and that we need to make changes to the course syllabus I gave you on Monday. We will have another, yet shorter, introduction to our English seminar on Friday. OK?
- Homework
- 1. Buy a copy of the Japan Times on the morning of Tuesday, April 15, 2003.
- NOTE: If you should forget to buy the Japan Times on Tuesday, you must get a copy of the news paper by the next class on Friday, April 15. You can buy a copy of the news story at the Japan Times. Look at this homepage and go there as soon as possible.
- 2. Look at Section 2 of our homepage and think of the presentation date for your first presentation.
- If you plan to give your first presentation early in May (i.e., May 9 and 12), go to the Hiyoshi library and look at the latest Japan Times BY the next class on Friday. Copy a couple of news stories you want to give a presentation about and show them to your instructor before or after the class.
- 04/21/2003:
- Buy the Japan Times on Saturday, April 19, 2003 and finish the homework on pp. 9-10 of our handout. Again, if you should forget to buy this issue of the Japan Times, you have two choices: (1) Go to the Japan Times in Tamachi or (2) Look at the Japan Times at our Hiyoshi Library.
- To Yokoyama, Aoki, Sato, and Otsuka:
- Monday, April 21 was your deadline to send (1) information about your MOPs and (2) comprehension questions and their answers to Mr. Shimura by email. You are running out of your preparation time. Read the handouts about MOPs very carefully and send (1) and (2) by Tuesday. I am worried about your presentation very much!
- 04/25/2003:
- Homework:
- Handout, p. 10.
- Homework on Library Use, Handout, pp. 3-4.
- Look at pp. 20-21 with the speech textbook for Study Skills (SCMS).
- 04/28/2003:
- Homework:
- Read pp. 20-35 of our class handouts and review/master the Study Skills presentation techniques. You may want to use the speech textbook for study skills.
- Yokoyama, Miyazaki, Aoki, Sato, and Otsu:
- Deadline for your handouts #1. Bring 25 copies of the first handout for
your MOP.
- 05/19/2003:
- This class has been caceled for a medical reason. I would like to apologize to all of your for this. And I especially feel very hsorry for Sugimoto, Oka, and Tamagami who were supposed to give their presentations today. We need to postpone all presentations by one class. Move everything to the next classes. See the Schedule Section of this homepage for a new schedule.
- The change in our presentation schedule means that you need to change your MOP dates in your schedule book.
- If we have the baseball game on this date, it is the school policy to cancel all classes except the ones in the first period. Therefore, our class will be canceled too.
- This means we will have to change our schedule again. Let's talk about what to do with the schedule change in the next class.
