In this "Virtual Office Hours," you can ask Mr. Shimura questions at any time you like. He will answer your questions within a few days. The email, however, must be written in English, and it has to be carefully written before you send it to him. Especially, be careful with spellings and grammar. Also, since Mr. Shimura has some 110 students in three English Seminars, do not forget to write who you are and which English Seminar you belong to at the end of your email (e.g., Michael Jordan, English Seminar, Monday-2 Class).
By the way, do you know how to write emails in English? If not, look at this homepage. You can learn the basics of English emails in less than 30 minutes!!!
Look at this PowerPoint file which was used in a class on November 15. It explains the second presentation, FOP. You should look at it before you prepare for your FOP.
This page helps you review the oral presentation skills you learned in the Study Skills course. Read this BEFORE you prepare for your presentations. You need the old Study Skills textbook, "Speaking of Speech."
You can also look at this PowePoint file used in the lecture on October 7, 2002.
You can find a lot of useful information not only about MOPs but also the term paper #1 for your MOP. Read this before and after your MOP to get an "A" on your MOP and the term paper!!!
This is a free online English-English dictionary. One special feature of this online dictionary is that it offers not only meanings of words but also their pronounciations in audio files!!! Try this new online dictionary from Microsoft.
